As you can see in The Cisco Learning Network, there are four levels of Cisco certifications (Entry, Associate, Professional, and Expert) to enhance your professional credentials. Specialist certifications are also offered to verify focused knowledge in many topics.

According to Cisco, "Cisco Certified Internetwork Professional (CCIP®) validates advanced knowledge and skills required to manage service provider infrastructures. With a CCIP certification, a network professional working in a service provider organization demonstrates competencies in infrastructure IP networking solutions. The CCIP curriculum includes IP routing, IP QoS, BGP, and MPLS."

1. PREREQUISITES - A valid CCNA certification is required as the prerequisites for the CCIP certification exam.
2. TRAINING - Cisco recommends four courses for assistance in passing this certification exam; Building Scalable Cisco Internetworks (BSCI), Implementing Cisco Quality of Service (QoS), Configuring BGP on Cisco Routers (BGP), and Implementing Cisco MPLS (MPLS). These courses are available through many learning partners in physical classroom and virtual classroom classes.
3. ADDITIONAL TRAINING AND REVIEW - Additional training and practice questions are available in The Cisco Learning Network CCIP.
4. CERTIFICATION EXAMS - Once you are ready to take your exams you can register through http://www.vue.com/cisco/. You will need to take 642-901 BSCI - Building Scalable Cisco Internetworks (90 minutes), 642-642 - QoS Quality of Service Exam (90 minutes, with 45-55 questions), 642-661 BGP - Configuring BGP on Cisco Routers Exam (90 minutes, with 50-60 questions), and 642-611 MPLS - Implementing Cisco MPLS Exam (90 minutes, with 55-65 questions). NOTE: 642-892 Composite can be substituted for 642-901 BSCI AND/OR 642-691 BGP + MPLS can be substituted for 642-661 BGP and 642-611 MPLS.
5. RECERTIFICATION - CCIP certifications are valid for three years. To recertify, pass any 642-XXX exam that is part of the professional level curriculum after 01/01/06, or pass a current CCIE or CCDE written exam.
